If you know me well, you know that I don’t really have role models, sure my parents are awesome and totally made me who I am today, but I mean that is the obvious one to say. When it comes to the actual fashion and business industry, I’ve struggled to find someone ‘good enough’ to deem a role model. Someone who doesn’t let whats around them and the norm, dictate their decisions, because they know that as far as they’re concerned, if they want to do something, it’ll happen. I tend to have that mentality and so i’m not a big fan of “realistic people” they’re not the kind of people I like to listen to. ANYWAY, my role model of course needed to be successful but still fun and totally chilled, as there’s nothing worse than someone who knows they’ve done well and will let you know about it at every opportunity they get, I appreciate the understated when it comes to one’s success. I guess you know where all of this is leading to.. Natalie Massenet.

Of course I’ve known about her for years but it wasn’t until last year when I started working with The Outnet, that is within the Net-A-Porter group, that I realized just how amazing what she had created was. Now I won’t go on for much longer, but she had a session at the vogue festival where she revealed exactly how she got to where she is today. It’s funny, insightful, sometimes completely random but it’s awesome, so be sure to spend some of your weekend just watching it and perhaps taking notes, as I can easily say she is one of my role models now, and I don’t have many.

If you haven’t heard Lana’s incredibly cool song that is featured in the latest adaptation of The Great Gatsby then I guess, you’re in for something pretty darn special right now. I’ve always loved Lana’s music and this latest song of her’s seem to be turning even more people into fans, which is great. Check out the new video that was released today for the new track Young & Beautiful!

On that note, my iTunes pre-order of the entire official soundtrack to The Great Gatsby has now been downloaded so head on over there to download the rest of what you can expect to hear from the spectacle that Baz Luhrmann has directed!

So what kind of place is El Gouna, it’s the kind of place you go to relax and hang out with friends in a super warm climate, whilst knowing that if lying in the sun gets a little too much, that there are SO many fun things to do. It’s a super affordable location, so you really can totally stay there for a couple of weeks without having to worry about coming home to no money!
There is a range of hotels to stay at; whilst there though, I stayed at the Captains inn. Now first impressions, mostly made from its name (as we arrived super late at night) were that of confusion & worry. The name doesn’t scream fun, holiday times for me, but rather cheesy, ‘oh dear’ filled times.

Well I was genuinely surprised by the general standard in the end. Its not incredible, but its SO affordable, clean and comfortable.
I’d recommend it for young people who want somewhere nice and simple to stay, for sure.

The summer months are upon us, and most of you are approaching the end of school, Uni or planning your summer vay-cay. You’ve got the usual spots that you may be heading to, whether it be due to fondness, affordability or proximity. So I just wanna throw a destination out there, El Gouna!

So at first, my initial thought when hearing of the place was quite simply, where in the world is El Gouna. It’s not a name that I am familiar with or that i’ve even heard mentioned in passing, so when finding out it was Egypt, I was intrigued and headed there via Egypt Air thanks to the lovely guys at the tourism office.

Permanently being surrounded by blue skies and perfect weather is not something I’m used to but it was beyond the norm in El Gouna, check out my next few posts that will show you all that you can get up to whilst there and generally filled with fun photo’s of the secluded coastline!
