In the early days of January, I found myself ankle deep in snow, in the middle of the Swiss Alps. So it’s not exactly somewhere one finds themselves, but nonetheless that’s where I was. What exactly was I doing, well mostly admiring the intense view & some crazy cool pieces of art, that were dotted all around The Cambrian.
Well this is partly true, but for the most part I was in Adelboden, to visit design hotel, The Cambrian. Quite literally filled to the brim with overly quirky pieces of art and unexpected furniture, this has to be one of the few hotels I’ve been to that takes the ‘Design Hotel’ label super seriously, well as serious as a huge foot in the lobby can be.
I never expected floating marshmellowy devices to be our sources of light or for there to be a lounge with panoramic views of the alps, it was insanely cool and pretty surreal.
When I wasn’t using my balcony area that will over-flowing with snow as a fridge/freezer, I explored the hotel and continuously stumbled across its charming ways. I spent a lot of time looking through the telescope and essentially gazing at heaps of snow-covered mountains & houses. Surprisingly it wasn’t as cold as, well, it looks so I when I ventured into the little but busy town, I didn’t feel like the weather was hurrying me back to the duvet in my room. I went to the local supermarket to pick up heaps of chocolate for the family, as you do when you’re in Switzerland, when I left, I realized I had spent almost £40 on some limited edition Tobelrone – I don’t know what happened, but that was some expensive chocolate!
When staying at somewhere like the Cambrian, I really don’t think it’s an option to stay in a room that has a balcony/private outside area, it’s a must! The views when you wake up are, dare I say it, magical. Yep, there it is, The Cambrian & its film like views got to me big time! Will it get to you too?
..see I wasn’t exaggerating!
So to check it out or just for some more information, maybe directions as you wouldn’t want to get stranded in the wrong town.. who knew that sort of stuff happened?

Oh and top tip! Make sure that when you’re traveling to Adelboden, it’s a morning flight, just makes thing easier..
